This guide will explain how to change the LG G5 lockscreen image and wallpaper, and customize other aspects. Now that LG’s new smartphone has been available for a few weeks we’re getting a lot of questions. The odd wallpaper on the LG G5 is one worth changing, and below are the quick instructions.
In early April LG’s new phone became available with a unique design and modular accessories. Here we’ll show owners how to change both the background wallpaper and the lockscreen wallpaper, for those that are new to Android. It’s a basic feature many don’t ever do simply because they don’t look through settings, but it’s an easy task.

The LG G5 has a decently bright 5.3-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD displays with nice colors and decent contrast. The first thing you see when it’s turn it on is the lockscreen. This can be customized with any picture users would like, and the same goes for the background wallpaper. Let’s get started.
LG loaded its phone up with lots of features, tons of apps, and even more bloatware from carriers, and things can get rather confusing. Not to mention the removable battery and modular accessories. For one, here’s the 10 top settings all owners should change, then lets customize that wallpaper.
Beginners or first-time smartphone (or LG) owners looking to change the wallpaper to a picture of their kids, family, pets or a pretty landscape photo or monument will be able to do so in a matter of minutes, or less. It’s something many people do often, but at the same time some leave the default image for months and months.
Part of the excitement of getting a new phone is setting it up the way you’d like, even if that can be a bit daunting for beginners. As a result, the easy to understand steps below will have owners changing the wallpaper on the LG G5 in a matter of a few taps in settings.
Instructions
Changing the wallpaper or background image on the lockscreen can be done a few different ways, and to make things even better the lockscreen image can differ from the homescreen wallpaper. However, unlike Samsung, these aren’t in the same place so users must navigate to two different setting menus to do both.
Tap and hold anywhere on your screen where there isn’t an app icon or clock/whether, and the screen will zoom out to a customize mode. From here you can rearrange icons, change what screen is the main screen when you hit the home button, as well as customize the wallpaper. However, this is only for the homescreen wallpaper, not that odd moving and distracting yellow star on the lockscreen, we’ll get to that next.

Simply push and hold on the main screen and select the middle options titled “Wallpapers”. Now owners can choose from a list of pre-installed background wallpapers, Live Wallpapers, or select “Gallery” to find a photo or downloaded image off the device. Simply find or select the photo you’d like to use, and hit “Set Wallpaper”. As shown below, and we’re all done.
Pick something pre-installed or find a good wallpaper downloaded from the internet or popular apps like Zedge. That or select an image from your own camera gallery and set that as the background image. Everything can be resized just how the owner wants it.
Lockscreen Wallpaper
For whatever reason these two settings aren’t in the same place, and as a result we have to exit the wallpaper area and dig around in settings to change the lockscreen. It’s fairly easy too, and here’s how to do it.
Pull down the notification bar and select the gear-shaped settings button on the top right. In settings find “Display” or tab the Display column up top. Navigate to “Lockscreen” and select “Wallpaper” then follow similar steps as above to select where and what photo is used.
There are two moving wallpapers for the lockscreen, the same regular wallpapers as the previous menu, or another option to browse the device gallery for a photo downloaded or taken with the camera. The moving wallpapers are distracting, but feel free to use one of the two if you’d like. This same area has lots of customization for the lockscreen, what content is shown and more. Look through it and get familiar with your device.
That’s it, we’re all done. It’s worth mentioning that there are a lot of different apps available from the Google Play Store users can download for custom wallpapers, or even live wallpapers. Zedge is one of the most popular choices overall.
Premium Wallpapers HD is another excellent choice, which works great and has HD wallpapers to better suite the 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD resolution on the LG G5. Good luck, and enjoy.
